Up the Ameghino Valley to Base Camp
Reporting from the organizing company:
The approach the group took to base camp is a bit longer than the most used, "normal" route. This is good for acclimatization and the route is really beautiful. The east side view of Aconcagua may be the nicest.
Everyone in the group arrived in good shape to Plaza Argentina according to the lead guide Eliena Camaño.
Now they will have a day of rest in the base camp. Then it's off to camp one, first carrying the things, then back down to sleep at the base camp and then again up to camp one the next day. Climbing up and coming back down to rest is a good way to acclimatize, since recuperating is easier lower down with more oxygen in the air.
I (Tommi) have taken photos from Wikimedia Commons to illustrate, since the photos the group is taking will not be available until after the expedition.
